Program Overview

• Trial Period: 3–6 months to ensure the right fit for both you and the salon 
• Duration: 24 months of hands-on career training 
• Focus: Technical skills, business knowledge, and professional development—emphasis on haircutting, hair color, and specialty color services 
• Mentorship: One-on-one guidance from an experienced senior stylist 
• Outcome: Graduate fully prepared to take the Maryland cosmetology state board test and earn your cosmetology license

Program Details

• Hours: Minimum 20 hours per week, combining paid salon support work and educational training

• Progression: As you grow in the program, responsibilities and opportunities increase, including client work and additional skill-building 
• Tools & Kit: The Hair Station provides a complete kit with all learning materials and tools (upfront cost $500–$750) 
• Fees: No tuition—just state sponsorship application fees and kit materials

From Beauty School to Confidence Behind the Chair

The Bridge the Gap Program is a paid salon support position with advanced training, designed for licensed stylists who are ready to grow—but need real-world experience to get there.

This program bridges the gap between beauty school and working behind the chair by combining hands-on salon experience, structured education, and mentorship inside a real, fast-paced salon environment.

You won’t just learn—you’ll apply, practice, and build confidence in real time.

What This Role Includes

As part of our Salon Support Team, you will:

• Support stylists and assist with daily salon flow 
• Help create a seamless, elevated guest experience 
• Maintain a clean, organized, professional environment 
• Gain real-world exposure to services, consultations, and salon operations 

Alongside your role, you’ll participate in our Bridge the Gap Training Program—a structured education experience designed to accelerate your growth behind the chair.

Education & Training Included

This program combines technical skill-building with professional development to create a well-rounded stylist.

You’ll receive:

• 12 Technical Workshops (approximately 4 hours each) 
• 12 Professional Development Meetings (approximately 45 minutes each) 
• Hands-on learning in a real salon environment 
• Mentorship from experienced stylists 
• Guidance in branding, content creation, and career growth 

Program Structure & Commitment

• Must hold a valid cosmetology license 
• All participants begin as part of the Salon Support Team 
• Includes a 90-day probationary period to ensure mutual fit 

If a stylist position becomes available, participants may be:

• Invited to apply based on performance, readiness, and team fit 

If a position does not become available, participants agree to:

• Complete a minimum 6-month commitment 
• With the opportunity to continue for an additional 6 months of advanced training and coaching
