Hey there! Learn a little about me (Hair Station owner),

I started my career in the hair industry in 2005, and over the years, I’ve experienced just about every side of it—chain salons, independent salons, commission, and booth rent. I’ve moved states and rebuilt my clientele more than once, so I truly understand the challenges, uncertainty, and growth that come with being a stylist.


I never originally set out to become a salon owner, but after years of thinking “there has to be a better way,” I decided to take the leap in November 2019. Since then, I’ve gradually stepped away from behind the chair to focus fully on growing the business and supporting my team.


Today, my passion is developing stylists—not just in their technical skills, but in their confidence, careers, and leadership. I believe this industry has so much to offer, and my goal is to help our team navigate it with clarity, support, and intention. I am constantly learning and evolving in the areas of business and marketing so that I can better lead, educate, and empower our team to work smarter, not harder.


I’m a big believer in open, honest communication and creating a space where feedback, growth, and even tough conversations are part of the process. More than anything, I love helping our team grow into the best version of themselves—and maybe even future leaders or salon owners.

For experienced stylists with an existing clientele who are ready for a stronger salon home, Established Stylists at The Hair Station benefit from a collaborative, team-driven culture while continuing to grow their business. You’ll step into a supportive environment that values your time, your talent, and your goals—offering the flexibility, growth opportunities, and resources to elevate your career without the isolation of working independently. With a focus on ongoing education, elevated guest experiences, and a team that genuinely supports your success, this is a space where your business can thrive and your future can expand.


The Salon Support Team is the foundation of the salon, ensuring a seamless, elevated experience for both guests and stylists. This role supports daily operations, enhances the client experience, and allows stylists to focus fully on their craft.


This team includes both individuals pursuing a future behind the chair and those passionate about salon operations and guest experience. For aspiring stylists, this role serves as the entry point into our training pathways, including our Apprenticeship Program and Bridge the Gap Program, where they gain hands-on experience, mentorship, and education as they grow in the industry. where they gain hands-on experience, mentorship, and education as they grow in the industry.


This position is ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented, team-focused, and passionate about creating exceptional guest experiences—whether building a career as a stylist or growing within salon operations.


Responsibilities

  • Support stylists and overall salon operations 
  • Create an elevated guest experience from start to finish 
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional environment 
  • Assist with front desk duties, booking, and client communication 
  • Prepare stations, manage supplies, and support daily salon flow 


Compensation

Starting at $15/hour, with opportunities for growth as skills and responsibilities increase.

Stylist Team Growth Plan

Our level system supports stylists as they grow in skill, client experience, and business. Advancement is based on performance metrics like utilization and client retention, ensuring consistent growth and success behind the chair.

Description:

The Foundation Phase is where everything begins. This is where stylists focus on building a strong technical foundation, developing confidence, and learning how to deliver an exceptional, consistent guest experience.


During this stage, stylists are part of the salon support team, contributing to the flow of the day while gaining hands-on experience behind the chair. This is where habits are built, standards are set, and the groundwork for a successful career is established.


Progression is based on your performance—your productivity and your ability to retain clients through an exceptional experience.


Compensation: Hourly pay. Average $23,000 – $34,000 with full time hours


Description: 

The Growth Phase is about building momentum and taking ownership of your business behind the chair. Stylists are focused on consistency, refining their technical skills, and creating a strong, elevated guest experience every time.


At this stage, you’re actively growing your productivity and building client retention as you begin to establish a loyal clientele and define your brand.


Compensation: Hourly pay or 40% commission on sales + tips (average $38,000–$47,000 with full-time hours) 


Description: 

The Consistency Phase is where your business becomes stable and predictable. Your schedule is built on repeat clients, strong retention, and consistent productivity.


This is where stylists operate with confidence—delivering a high-level, repeatable guest experience while maintaining a steady, full book. Your business is no longer about building—it’s about sustaining and refining.


Compensation: Hourly pay or 43% commission on sales + tips (average $49,000–$59,000 with full-time hours) 


Description: 

The In-Demand Phase is where your business is thriving. You’ve built a loyal clientele, and demand for your time is consistent and strong.


At this level, your schedule is full, your retention is high, and your productivity reflects a well-established, in-demand career. You’re delivering an elevated experience at a high level, while continuing to grow and strengthen your business.


Compensation: Hourly pay or 45% commission on sales + tips (average $61,000–$85,000 with full-time hours) 


Description: 

The Elite Phase represents the top tier of stylists—those who have built a reputation that attracts clients to them. You are not just booked—you are in demand.


At this level, your productivity and retention are exceptional, and your name carries weight in your market. Clients seek you out because of your consistency, expertise, and results. You are a brand in yourself, driving demand through your reputation while continuing to operate at the highest level behind the chair.


Compensation: Hourly pay or 47% commission on sales + tips (average $87,000–$122,000 with full-time hours)
